Boats and bikes – two modes of transportation and recreation which are prominent in our family.
My husband and oldest son are out at sea or in the Intercoastal Waterway…depending on weather conditions. One of my husband’s friends bought a boat in the Florida Keys and asked for help moving it to New York City. Timing worked out so he and our oldest son could captain and crew the boat. It’s been an adventure, to say the least. They’ve had many thrills and chills along the way. Here’s a video of one of the thrills:
While they’ve been gone, I’ve been working a lot. June officially is “Bike Month” and since I facilitate our community’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition (BPEC) and co-manage the Bicycle Ambassador Program along with FC Bikes, it’s a busy time.
Yesterday, BPEC led a group of local government officials on a bike ride from Fort Collins to Loveland. This article in today’s “Coloraodoan” newspaper sums it up nicely.
I’m looking forward to when our two favorite ways of getting around are combined (we plan to have pedal-generated electricity on Sundown, our Hans Christian 33t). But for today, I’m off to paint some of Sundown’s storage compartments so they can all look as pretty as this one.
