I asked my husband for a list of all the wiring he’s finished recently so I could write about it. I envisioned a concise inventory organized by bullet marks. I received part spreadsheet, part chicken scratch. Seriously? Like I’m supposed to decipher this and translate it into something our readers can understand?
The bottom line is, he has designed and installed the main and primary circuit panels…with help from our son, Kyle (who is a guitar amp wiring pro). The panels contain control switches for:
- Interior, anchor, navigation, steaming, spreader and night lights
- Fans
- Refrigeration
- Inverter
- Pumps for the bilge, fresh water, macerator (solid waste grinder upper), shower, wash down system (like the outdoor spigot)
- VHF and stereo, and
- Heater.
For you fellow sailors, we’ve planned for a 440 amp hour house bank and a 120 amp hour budget. If you have specific questions, email us at sundownsailing@gmail.com.
There are a few more items and systems to which to provide wiring, such as the desalinator, but we’re getting close to being totally wired!
