We did it! Clay and I, plus 10 of our new closest friends, completed the League of American Bicyclists instructor course! After an exciting ride through downtown Fort Collins on Friday night, several skills tests, group and individual presentations, and many teaching scenarios and discussions about how to teach bicycling safety, we are now “LCIs in Training.” To finalize our certification process, we have to co-teach a couple Traffic Skills 101 courses with a fully certified instructor.
Practicing the crash avoidance skills (like the Rock Dodge, Quick Stop and Instant Turn) reminded me of when we took our ASA courses and had to successfully complete the “man overboard” drill. Thankfully, we all survived without injury.
Oh, and that mammoth snow storm we were supposed to get never materialized. We received about an inch or two of wet snow, but none of it accumulated on the streets. So I guess we succeeded at the Snow Dodge, too.
Next weekend, it’s back to the boat for more restoration, installations, cleaning and painting. Stay tuned!
