Lest you think I’ve been slacking and abandoned my New Year’s intention of writing more just because it’s been a couple of months since my last post, guess again.
I’ve been writing plenty, just not about our boat-renovation adventures. You see, until Sundown is ready to launch, my husband and I have to do this thing called work for a living (we’ll have to do that once we launch, too, but hopefully it will feel different). Much of what I do to pay the bills involves a variety communications efforts (I expect that to continue in boat life). Here’s a sampling of what’s been keeping me busy:
2013 Ride magazine (see pages 8 and 46) – This magazine is about all things bicycling in northern Colorado
Bike programs for kids promote safe riding, health habits – May 13, 2013, Coloradoan column
RM Parent magazine – monthly Community News columns: May 2013 – Be a Good Steward, April 2013 – Springing Into a Healthy Season
Youth Program & Activity Guide – April 2013: A Health Balance (page 12)
Telementor: Journal of the International Telementor Program (ITP) – Special issue – this was a biggie. It included writing and layout (and I know just enough about Adobe InDesign to be dangerous).
RM Senior magazine: May 2013 issue, page 6 – Silver Spokes for bicycling folksdangerous).
Personal Traction (ITP’s blog) – Bobcats, A Lion and Measurable Student Learning Outcomes—Oh, Deer! and Feedback Fuels Refinement
And then there’s the NEWS from HCC, an e-newsletter I distribute twice a month to over 1,500 recipients throughout northern Colorado and beyond, plus management of social media for Healthier Communities Coalition of Larimer County, ITP and Sundown Sailing Adventures, AND the websites for HCC and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition of Larimer County (BPEC). I do have some wonderful volunteers who help me with some of the NEWS and BPEC work, but at the end of the day, the buck stops here.
I also have a weekly spot on our local public radio station, KRFC 88.9fm. Community CheckUp airs every Thursday at 5:55 p.m. and features programs and services in our community for children, youth and families. Listen to some of the archived shows.
Last month, the City of Fort Collins Channel 14 TV station approached me about hosting a monthly show focused on health. If we can work out some of the details, like how to fund the show, we could start taping as early as July. I’ll keep you posted so you can tune in!
You are amazing!!! Dottie Spivak 472 0204
